Theory Test Explained

Theory tests are broken up into two parts. Firstly you have a set of multiple choice questions and then, after the questions, you get a hazard perception test. The whole test is conducted in a room on a computer using both a touch screen and a standard mouse.

The Test

Part 1- Multiple Choice Questions

For cars and motorcycles your asked 50 questions in 57 minutes. To pass you need over 43 correct answers.

For lorries and buses you’ll be asked 100 questions in 115 minutes. To pass you need over 85 correct answers.

Part 2- Hazard Perception

For cars and motorcycles you’ll watch 14 seperate video clips, all showing some form of a developing hazzard. Your score will be created depending on the time it takes you to notice and click on the developing hazzard. The maximum score, per click, is 5 marks. To pass the hazard perception test you’ll need to get 50 out of 75.

For lorries you have 19 video clips and the pass mark is 67 out of 100.

Theory Test Requirements

* A valid UK provisional drivers license.
* A valid debit or credit card for payment.
